About the Position: As an Administrative Support Assistant (Office Automation), you will perform a variety of administrative duties (i.e. personnel, manage schedules, update checklists and SOPs, customer service, and prepare reports) to support the organization. This position is located at HQ US FORSCOM in Fort Liberty, North Carolina.

Duties

Coordinates, inputs, and monitors all personnel actions through a personnel database. Maintains familiarity with regulatory guidance and directives pertaining to administrative policies and procedures. Maintains the Table of Distribution and allowances (TDA) and ensures proper and accurate posting of all personnel actions related to recruitment, reassignments, and promotions. Uses word processing and other types of software (spreadsheets, graphics, etc.) to process and produce a wide range of documents. Coordinates and maintains a variety of administrative records for the entire organization. Maintains Soldier files and administrative records in accordance with established SOPs. Provides advice and interprets policies and guidance regarding letters of appreciation and commendation, civilian awards, performance awards, and other incentive awards. Transmits, receives and/or acknowledges various information such as electronic mail.

Requirements

  • Skills of a qualified typist are required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining employee personnel records in compliance with rules, regulations and established procedures; researching, documenting, and resolving a number of personnel requests using an automated personnel system; ensuring required documentation is accounted for and properly documented; performing quality assurance reviews on personnel records; correcting errors and providing guidance and alternative solutions to problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer SkillsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Manages and Organizes Information Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
