About the Position: This position is within the Directorate of Industrial Operations at Letterkenny Army Depot located in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

Duties

Calibrate complex electronic integrated system components by employing precise electronic principles and theory. Diagnose component failure involving complex integrated circuitry malfunctions. Proof test sophisticated commercial test equipment to verify its operation falls within acceptable tolerances. Conduct operational checkout on advanced electronic assemblies utilizing prescribed procedures. Calibrate complex electronic assemblies such as optical sights, signal generators, oscillators, data processors, printed circuit boards, etc. Improvise electrical test procedures using components such as prototype adapters, motherboards, etc.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination and an annual physical examination thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance for the duration of employment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Appointment may be subject to a one-year probationary period.
  • Must be willing to utilize personal protective clothing and/or equipment upon entry.

These duties include: 1) testing, troubleshooting, calibrating and repairing electronic assemblies, sub-assemblies, components and associated equipment; 2) calibrating complex electronic integrated system components by employing precise electronic principles and theory, and calibrating complex electronic assemblies such as optical sights, signal generators, oscillators, data processors, printed circuit boards, etc.; 3) diagnosing component failures involving complex integrated circuitry malfunctions; proof testing equipment; and conducting operational checkouts on advanced electronic assemblies; and 4) improvising electrical test procedures using components such as prototype adapters, motherboards, etc. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - ElectronicsIngenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods)Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Theory of ElectronicsTrouble shooting (Electronic Equipment)Use of Test Equipment: Electronics PHYSICAL EFFORT Work requires frequent bending, standing and stooping in tiring positions and protracted periods at consoles and/or benches. Required to lift, push or pull a variety of items weighing up to 40 pounds. Some assignments require climbing. WORKING CONDITIONS Normally works in well lighted, heated and ventilated shop areas and occasionally outside. Subject to the possibility of cuts, bruises, burns, and shock caused by high voltage energy, soldering irons, radiation, etc. May be required to utilize personal protective clothing and/or equipment.
