Duties
You will serve as first line supervisor over eighteen motor vehicle operators engaged in the collection, transport, and disposition of solid waste throughout the Installation.
You will manage solid waste service request and plans schedules for employees on a weekly basis to ensure sufficient execution of solid waste requests and collections.
You will plan and manage employee leave and overtime requirements in the most economical manner to ensure mission requirements are met.
You will plan and manage scheduled and unscheduled equipment maintenance and Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO) qualifications to ensure the availability of employees and equipment to execute mission requirements.
You will plan and manage special waste collection requirements in support of non-routine Installation activities.
You will operate gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles weighing 26,000 pounds or more to include special purpose vehicles.
You will investigate work related issues, identify causes, and establish procedures to correct deficiencies and ensure productivity is maintained.
You will identify problems or situations as they occur and take appropriate actions within the position's realm of authority to alleviate work related issues.
You will recommend solutions for staffing issues and work operations to assist the Landfill Manager with overall planning.
You will assign, direct, and coordinate work commitments, determine and revise work priorities, and schedule work accordingly.
You will plan and organize work and manage positions to ensure maximum productivity for moneys spent.
You will promote all special programs such as the elimination of fraud, waste, and abuse in Government.
You will maintain records of all daily operators' checks and maintenance and ensure all vehicles are cleaned daily.
You will monitor the safety of employees, job operations, and workspaces to ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
You will assist in the administration of the Installation's safety program.
You will ensure safety violations are abated.
You will ensure control of the quality of services provided.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- You will be required to stoop, climb and pick up objects weighing at least 40 pounds and will be subject to work in adverse weather conditions.
- You will be required to walk or stand to a significant degree for unspecified periods of time.
- You will be required to have eye-hand-foot coordination.
- You will be required to differentiate between colors and shades of colors
- You will be required to successfully complete all training requirements in accordance with 130A-309.25 (Training of Operators of Solid Waste Management Facilities) within the first six months of employment.
