You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the Fleet Technical Support Division, Engineering and Planning Department of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will be responsible for providing technical engineering services for the Miniature and Micro-Miniature (2M), Module Test, and Repair (MTR), Fiber Optic Test and Repair (FOTR) programs. You will be required to maintain up-to-date, comprehensive and detailed knowledge of repair technology and requisite equipment. You will be a technical advisor for fleet-level repairs and 2M/MTR/FOTR equipment upkeep and support. You will assist in reviewing and certifying 2M/MTR/FOTR technicians and repair facilities to ensure that all technical aspects of the program and equipment are satisfactorily utilized and maintained. You will provide technical assistance on routine technical problems beyond the capability of forces afloat, IMA's, or repair activities to diagnose or correct. You will perform special technical engineering analyses and studies for the purpose of developing or evaluating improvements in design, maintenance procedures, material, etc.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing electronics technical services in support of the testing, inspecting and troubleshooting of electronic systems to diagnose and resolve problems during the maintenance, repair, or overhaul of shipboard electronic systems and subsystem components.
