You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the FLEET TECHNICAL SUPPORT DIVISION of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will manage the efforts including Direct Fleet Technical Support by utilizing Distance Support and onboard technical support if necessary. You will schedule Subject Matter Expert (SME) visits to provide technical guidance and help ship's company assess, maintain and repair various systems. You will plan work and assign tasks to subordinates within their areas of specialization, indicating general nature of problem and priority in relation to other tasks. You will review technical recommendations by employees for compliance with technical adequacy/accuracy. You will manage Branch finances to ensure proper utilization and preclude over expenditures. You will represent PSNS and IMF and Pacific Fleet Type Commanders (TYCOMs) at conferences and seminars concerning maintenance policies, program initiatives, etc., for systems within the cognizance of the Division. You will develop, negotiate acceptance and funding, and manage special programs to overcome specific system/equipment problems. You will supervise approximately 23 employees including 10 Military, 10 GS-12 and 3 GS-11 Mechanical Engineering Technicians, and Electrical and Electronics Technicians.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and developing technical engineering work methods or procedures to evaluate and diagnose operational or design problems and execute technical support of the maintenance, repair or modification of shipboard networks, communications, navigation or electronic systems.
