The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Special Access Program security specialist, providing expert technical advise in the complex area of security for special access programs to include personnel access management, classification management, security violation management, security education and awareness training, and security surveys/special programs security inspections for assigned programs.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and directs Special Access Program (SAP) security for assigned directorate programs/activities, its facilities and acquisition program systems, that support advanced or special programs and SCI material.
Maintains security oversight of special access programs. Develops operating standards for Special Access Program facilities and provides technical expertise to senior level personnel on interpretation, clarification.
Performs duties as the Government SAP Security Officer. (GSSO) for assigned programs/activity as defined in AF and DOD guidance

- Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position.

Experience requirements are described in the office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Series 0080.
- Expertise in program protection, physical, system, information, industrial, personnel, operations security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas.
- Extensive knowledge of organization's missions, functions, and structure to ensure effective implementation of oversight of special programs security concepts, principles and practices.
- Expertise in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the Center Commander.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately.
- Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
- Knowledge of government contractual practices and requirements for development and purchase of USAF acquisition programs and/or supporting programs/projects. Must be familiar with Defense Industrial Base security organization, operations, and management practices.
