NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities. The Office of Federal/State Partnership (FSP), serves as the liaison between the National Endowment for the Humanities and the humanities council network. By Congressional mandate, NEH provides general operating support grants to humanities councils in all 50 states.

Duties

Participates in agency-wide initiatives. Participates in agency-wide working groups. Works with the Chair's Office and other agency offices to develop informational materials and presentations. Coordinates Chair's Office travel when it involves state humanities councils. Keeps up-to-date on the divisions' grant programs and activity in order to promote opportunities, as appropriate, throughout the state council community; and coordinates with division staff and state councils to recommend and facilitate NEH funding workshops and develop outreach strategies. Responsible for grant administration: monitors grantees for compliance with the terms and conditions of their awards. Manages and conducts site reviews. Reviews, analyzes, and responds to grantee reports and provides technical assistance. Shares findings from the reports through written communications and presentations. Works with office colleagues to prepare for an participate in conferences and other activities. Assists with the management of the annual application process and provides technical assistance.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. At the GS-12 level Qualified candidates must possess: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level or equivalent experience. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: experience working for a year or more in a public education, programming or curatorial position in a library or museum; teaching classes in the humanities; or working as a senior team member on a public humanities project. In all cases work in the humanities should have been performed with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment, requiring somewhat extended professional training and experience. All applicants should demonstrate important attainments and capacity for independent work. At the GS-13 level Qualified candidates must possess: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level or equivalent experience. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: work in the humanities performed with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment, requiring extended professional training and experience and which has demonstrated important attainments and marked capacity for independent work. Education

A Bachelor's degree in a discipline of the humanities is required (a Ph.D. is preferred).
