The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is in the Office of Education and Technology (OET), Under Secretary for Education (USE), Smithsonian Institution (SI). It is responsible for strategically leading and managing an SI-wide educational technology program that embraces and addresses the needs of more than 300 Smithsonian educators and external stakeholders across the nation.

Qualifications
ALL Applicants must meet the basic education requirement for this position Basic Requirements:
Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above.
In addtion to the basic education requirement above, applicants must also meet the following:
Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position specialized experience is defined as developing, implementing and maintaining an educational technology strategy including engagement with digital and media platforms for general and specialized audiences in a museum, educational or cultural institution setting; developing and managing web and emerging media programs for varied digital channels; long- and short-term planning; digital lifecycle management; and evaluating and implementing of platforms and tools.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
