Duties

MAJOR DUTIES Regional Information Technology Security Manager (RITSM) managing the Information Technology (IT) Security program for parks and offices in National Park Service (NPS) Interior Regions 3, 4 & 5. Review and assure compliance with technical information security policies, methods, standards and regulations for technical systems. Develop documentation and complete processes related to Assessment and Authorization, Privacy, ATO, and other IT security related documents/processes. Review and assist with the implementation of critical industry solutions related to IT services (examples include: Zero Trust, cloud services, data center consolidation, cybersecurity standards, etc.). Promote awareness of IT security issues among users and management and ensure sound security principles are reflected in the organizations vision and goals Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level. Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary. Some work may involve travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site. Some employees may carry light items such as papers, books, or small parts, or drive a motor vehicle. The work does not require any special physical effort. Work Environment: The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. Some employees may occasionally be exposed to uncomfortable conditions in such places as research facilities. Area: The office is located in Omaha, Nebraska. Omaha is the largest city in Nebraska and is the county seat of Douglas County with a population over 560,000. Located along the Missouri River, the 8-county metropolitan Greater Omaha area is home to six Fortune 500 companies; the CHI Health Center which attracts top name entertainers, expositions, the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Swimming, and other events; the TD Ameritrade ball park which hosts the NCAA Men's College World Series; and other theaters, museums, and cultural amenities. The area also has 15 hospitals, including the state's only Children's Hospital, and two medical schools and research centers. Greater Omaha is also home to Offutt Air Force Base. The region's cost of living index averages 10-15% below the national average, and there is a plentiful supply of reasonably priced new and pre-owned homes. The April 2019 unemployment rate was 2.9%. On average, the warmest month is July with a mean temperature of 77 degrees and the coldest month is February with 28 degrees. Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-09/17/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. -AND-GS-12 Position: To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience may include but is not limited to: experience with management of projects that require extensive knowledge of IT hardware/software technology providing technical support for the management/protection in information systems; development of IT Security plans, procedures, privacy threshold assessments, and contingency planning; providing authoritative advice to other specialists in disaster recovery, business continuity, and operating systems security. You must include hours per week worked. -AND-GS-13 Position: To qualify for this position at the GS-13 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience may include but is not limited to: experience with cybersecurity issues including identifying, assessing, recommending and applying corrective action for cyber security issues, preparing systems documentation for certification/accreditation in accordance with FISMA, FedRAMP, and/or other federal guidelines or regulations; Providing technical guidance and interpretation of IT cybersecurity policies, processes and procedures and privacy guidance in information systems; Conducting audits/assessments information systems, drafting or developing operational policies and/or procedures. You must include hours per week worked. Quality Ranking Factor: This position has a quality ranking factor for IT certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Systems Security Certified Professional (SSCP), Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Information Security Essential Certification (GSEC), and Comp TIA Security+. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
