About the Position: This position is with the 88th Readiness Division, AMSA 137, located in Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington.
Duties
Conduct inspections of heavy mobile equipment and vehicle components repaired by shop personnel.
Conduct inspection on a variety of combustion powered automotive vehicles and trucks.
Use technical manuals and manufacturer specifications to determine requirements.
Evaluate work completed to ensure it has been completed in accordance with standards and specifications.
Ensure quality control is maintained.
Review work/job orders.
Post repairs or services to appropriate records.
Complete a variety of inspection reports and forms.
Troubleshoot equipment, make adjustments, remove and replace parts, accessories and components.
Refer discrepancies to shop supervisor for appropriate action.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation.
- This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
- This position requires a Class A CDL within 180 days of employment
- This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repair Inspector without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting heavy mobile equipment to include utilizing, repairing, replacing, installing, or making adjustments to mobile equipment components and parts; utilizing technical manuals for repairs; and conducting various operational test to perform final inspection. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort Required: Work requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Work is performed on top of, under, or in tight compartments of equipment in cramped positions. Work requires lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside. Worker is exposed to drafts, dirt, grease, oils, vehicle exhaust fumes, and inclement weather. Worker is subject to burns, cuts, scrapes, bruises, and strains.
