Serves as a recognized technical authority and expert for an assigned systems development area in the Office of Digital Transformation (ODT), Office of the Chief Information Officer. Work that involves the design, documentation, modification, testing, installation, and maintenance of new or existing applications software, and supports ODT's mission in the development and implementation of standards via the software development lifecycle.
Duties
Assumes full technical responsibility for the formulation, coordination and development of special studies, projects or research work regarding programmatic and administrative systems development.
Serves as an agency-wide resource person in providing technical support and advice concerning SSA's programmatic and administrative systems development.
Provides authoritative advice to executive level managers within the Agency about the area of expertise. Conducts continuing review of computer technology developments
[con't] applicable to system design and prepares long-range forecasts of developments relevant to SSA applications. Provides technical direction and guidance to other IT Specialists.

To qualify for the 2210 IT Specialist series, applicants must demonstrate the following competencies: must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

In addition, to qualify for the GS-13, applicant must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-12 level in the Federal government that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This IT-related experience must include designing, developing, and deploying code for customer-facing websites and applications.
