Duties
Major Duties of the Position:
The Department of Behavioral Sciences & Leadership (DFBL) is seeking talented psychologists with expertise related to cognitive neuroscience to join our team as a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor. Anticipated start date is on or around June 30, 2025. Candidates must have completed all Ph.D. requirements in Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Biopsychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, or a closely allied field by the start date. Responsibilities of this position include a combination of teaching, scholarship, and service. First and foremost, the Air Force Academy is an in-person teaching institution and experience teaching undergraduate courses is desirable. The person we are seeking will be responsible for teaching major's courses related to their disciplinary area of expertise (e.g., Introduction to Neuroscience, Sensation and Perception), service courses within our department (e.g., Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods), and contribute to interdisciplinary courses related to leadership and/or our Diversity and Inclusion Minor. Typical teaching responsibilities include approximately 3-4 sections each semester with 1-2 preps. In addition to teaching, we will also look to our new hire to contribute to the scholarly life of our department and the Academy by establishing and maintaining a regular rhythm of publishing and presenting in their area of interest. We invite scholars with human-focused interests who can mentor talented undergraduate students as part of their work. The person we hire will have access to department lab facilities (to include eyetracking, EEG, fNIRS, and extended reality technologies), as well as a participant pool to assist in their work. Finally, we seek a colleague who is committed to service as a meaningful part of their professional life. Initially, the person we hire will be expected to fulfill service responsibilities (e.g., academic advising, committee work) within our department. Ultimately, we will expect candidates to participate in service across the Air Force Academy and outside the institution (e.g., within professional organizations) as well.

- The salary shown is the minimum (Annual) amount to be paid and may be set higher commensurate with individual's qualifications and experience.

FOREIGN EDUCATION:
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the educational requirements. However, you must show proof that the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying in the form of an "official" statement of U.S. equivalency from a Department of Education approved (non-federal) agency (i.e. AICE, NACES), who will complete a U.S. Standard of Education Conversion.
