About the Position: As a Lead Emergency Services Dispatcher you will provide emergency police, fire, and medical services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment.

Duties

Serve as a Lead Emergency Services Dispatcher, responsible for assuring that 4 personnel assigned to the shift carry out work assignments in accordance with instructions. Responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls. Refer non-emergent callers to appropriate civilian and governmental agencies. Maintain reports and retrieve needed statistical information using the local authority's fire incident reporting system(s).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain certification in first aid and CPR.
  • Must meet established hearing and vision tests.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • May be required to work emergency overtime.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret clearance.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain certifications in Emergency Telecommunicator Course (ETC), National Crime Information Center (NCIC) training, and Oklahoma Telecommunications System (OLETS) training.
  • Position is subject to shift work.
  • Position requires working an alternate work schedule, which requires an uncommon tour of duty, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Incumbent is required to work regardless of weather conditions, Terrorist Force Protection Condition (TFPCON) or installation closure and report to the duty station at the scheduled time (Mission Essential).
  • The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain certification in Emergency Medical Dispatch System and Emergency Fire Dispatch system through an accredited source.
  • The incumbent is required to attend National Accredited Public Safety Dispatcher Training. Continuous current certification is a condition of employment.
  • The incumbent is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch and Intrusion Detection education requirements through in-service training that is offered locally.
  • The incumbent must successfully pass a national Criminal Information Center (NCIC) Interstate Identification Index (III) background check.
  • Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Positions Identified as Critical Under the Drug Abuse Testing Program) or a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and must pass urinalysis testing as required.
  • The work is performed in a highly stressful, restricted office environment.
  • The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver's license.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Operate dispatching, communications, and automation systems, 2) Process incoming emergency and non-emergency call requests for fire, medical and police assistance, 3) Coordinate emergency services with law enforcement and emergency response agencies, 4) Serve as a mentor by providing and explaining guidance on emergency service dispatching policies and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-07. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AccountabilityInterpersonal SkillsManages and Organizes InformationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
