About the Position: This positions is a Medical Support Assistant (Surgical Scheduler/Coordinator) at Fort Drum, New York.
This is a Direct Hire solicitation.
Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
Duties
Manage pre- and post-surgical appointments to ensure readiness for patient visits or procedures.
Review scheduling information and resolve scheduling issues.
Process referrals between the military treatment facility and local hospitals and providers.
Request approval for operating room space with local hospitals under the External Resource Sharing Agreement.
Maintain office files.
Receive patients and visitors as the initial point of contact, in person or telephonically.
Prepare charts for next day procedures.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing the surgical schedule using automated surgical scheduling systems; advising medical personnel, staff and/or management regarding scheduling; and/or preparing memorandums, reports, and/or correspondence for Medical Professionals, staff and/or management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
