About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Soldier Recovery Unit, U.S. Army Medical Department Activity at Fort Drum, New York.

Duties
Performs a wide variety of administrative management duties under the general supervision of the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU).
Assists the Case Managers in the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the planned, integrated, systematic and ongoing process for accurately monitoring, evaluating, and improving case management services.
Coordinate appointments and escorting Wounded, Ill, or Injured Soldiers and families to the health service team.
Works in compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), patient safety guidelines, organizational standard operating procedures,
Communicates effectively with patients using tact and diplomacy; ascertains the nature of the call or visit, obtains identifying information, and determines the nature and urgency of the patient’s request.
Requirements
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations regardless of position, based on occupational risk.
- This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A National Agency Check w/ Inquiries (NACI) background investigation is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: communicating with a wide range of medical clinicians across multiple organizations to ensure medical care for patients; using various types of office automation equipment and software to prepare reports and enter and retrieve data; and maintaining patient records in accordance with regulatory guidance.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
