Serves as an Aerospace Engineering Technician (Traveler) in the Line Maintenance Subteam, contributing on large work activities, or as a team leader for single or small work activities. May provide formal instruction to other technicians. Performs highly specialized technical work associated with analyzing, designing, developing, installing, repairing, fabricating, maintaining, modifying, or evaluating the most complex systems for which the FAA is responsible.

Duties

Technician serves as an independent contributor and contributing specialist on large projects and plans and organizes work to accomplish organizational objectives. Incumbent is responsible for troubleshooting and analyzing aircraft problems on the agency's highly complex aircraft that supports the worldwide National Airspace System (NAS).

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
  • Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.
  • One year probationary period may be required.
  • Applicant must possess an FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate.
  • Travel up to 75% may be required.
  • A physical may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for this FV-H (FG/GS-12) position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G (FG/GS-10/11) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes experience utilizing technical expertise to determine the airworthiness of highly modified aviation platforms; experience utilizing diagnostic equipment; experience troubleshooting aircraft problems involving mechanical, electronic, and/or avionics components etc.In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following has been determined to be a selective factor for this position. This means possession of this criterion is part of the minimum qualifications and is essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Applicants who do not possess this criterion are ineligible for further consideration.SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SPF): Must possess an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate. A copy of your A&P certificate (front and back) must be uploaded to receive consideration for this position.ALSOQUALITY RANKING FACTOR (QRF): Well-qualified applicants will possess and document experience with General Electric (GE) CF34 Engines, Proline 4 and/or Praline 21 experience .Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
