Serves as an Engineering Technician within the Air Traffic Organization (ATO), Technical Operations (AJW), Operations Support (AJW-1000), Navigation/Communications/Environmental Group (AJW-1500). Incumbent plans and accomplishes highly complex, challenging projects/programs and work activities under the minimal direction of a manager.

Duties

Serves as a technical expert to develop new or innovative concepts and approaches to systems, programs, and policies or serves as a team leader for large, challenging work activities. Has experience and expert knowledge of the methods and techniques of engineering or architecture; and the construction, application, properties, operations, and limitations of engineering systems, processes, structures, machinery, devices, and materials. Possesses knowledge of operations and maintenance support at the national level of the systems engineering function for National Airspace System (NAS) Navaid systems (includes ILS, DME, VOR & TACAN) and is looked to for guidance on, and resolution of, complex problems related to the introduction of new systems into the NAS and problems associated with continued operation of commissioned facilities.

Qualifications

TO QUALIFY AT THE FV-J (GS/FG 14/15) LEVEL, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-I (GS/FG 13) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes: experience and knowledge of the methods and techniques of engineering or digital design. Applies practical knowledge of engineering concepts and technical system knowledge in the documentation process of NAS facilities/equipment. Provides engineering expertise in support of the systems engineering function for Universal Interlock Control (UIC) systems.Applicants should provide examples of Specialized Experience in their Work History. Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
