This position is located within the Police & Security Services/Office of Chief Section at the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System Las Vegas Nevada. The incumbent provides program support assistance necessary to support the office of the Chief and Assistant Chief, Police Service, assisting with the administrative functions of the VA Police Operations Section.
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities will include:
Serves as the recorder/minute taker for various medical center committees within VA Police Service, such as Parking Committee, Felony Fugitive Program (FFP), Facilities Security Committee and other committees as appointed.
Provides program support assistance necessary to support the office of the Chief and Assistant Chief, Police Service, assists with the administrative functions of the VA Police Operations Section.
Receives and screens telephone calls and visitors.
Types letters, memorandums, reports, in-service policy memorandums and decision papers generated by the Chief and Assistant Chief,.
Ensures the Chief is briefed daily on the day's activities and any mattes or concerns about his/her scheduled meetings.
Generates, routes for approval/signature and tracks a variety of memorandums, letters, and other documents
Serves as the service's Automated Data Processing Account Coordinator (ADPAC).
Assists with developing, drafting, and updating support policies and procedures, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met
Responsible for assisting VA Police Staff in making their travel arrangements to include preparing travel orders, making transportation arrangement/hotel/car rental reservations, preparing itineraries, and submitting travel vouchers for payment.
Authorized user of the service's Impact Credit card, and responsible for the procurement of ALL the service's needs and equipment while operating within an allocated budget.
Works with all departments in the issuance of and accountability of all temporary badges issued to VA Staff, Contractors, vendors and police staff.
Serves as an Alternative Timekeeper.
Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/13/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
To meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-6 position, you musthave at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service (or equivalent pay band). Specialized experience in the context of this position includes, but are not limited to: receiving and screening telephone calls and visitors, using sound judgement as to the relative importance of each call and visits, and determining who to refer visitors/calls to. Experienced in typing letters, memorandums, reports, meeting minutes. Keeps an accurate calendar of staff and program events. Provides customers with consistent information according to established policies and objectives. Create and update inventory of office supplies, and assure the smooth functioning of day-to-day operations. Previous experience as a Timekeeper and experienced in making travel arrangements. Has worked with Facility Physical Access Control Systems and the issuing of access control badges. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some light physical effort may be required such as walking long distances throughout the medical facility, standing, etc.
