About the Position:
Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg) is a military installation of the United States Army in the State of North Carolina. Fort Liberty is one of the largest military installations in the world by population, with around 29,000 military personnel. This position is located within Gordon Elementary School (ES), is a part of the Fort Liberty Schools Community, is located in Fort Liberty's Linden Oaks housing area, and serves students from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.
Duties
Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence.
Maintain and control the calendar and schedule appointments for the Principal and Assistant Principal.
Compile information for a variety of one-time and recurring administrative and/or technical reports.
Establish and manage records and files.
Receive calls and visitors and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff member.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- One year probationary period may be required.
- Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
- This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
GS-05
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: utilizing office automation software to develop correspondence; managing customer inquiries; and maintaining office files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
GS-06
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: maintaining calendars and/or schedules; managing records; and compiling data for technical reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this grade, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted for the GS-06 level.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
