About the Position: Incumbent serves as a Human Resources Specialist (Military) through the Military Personnel Division.

Duties

Brief staff, directors, commanders, and chiefs on military personnel programs and functions. Oversees the in and out-processing of all soldiers to and from the installation. Develop information to identify and clarify problems or issues, discuss significant findings, plan or coordinate work efforts, or resolve operating problems. Oversees the actions of the Transition Center for Soldiers and their Families who are separating from the Military. Utilize various automated system(s) supporting Military Personnel Programs to retrieve data for studies, projects, reports and necessary actions. Initiate appropriate action to identify and rectify discrepancies with personnel records to ensure accuracy for processing of numerous personnel actions such as but not limited to transition documents, CAC/ID Cards, Orders, certificates, etc.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: verifying and preparing separation documents that directly affect individual pay, benefits and entitlements (DD Form 214 & 215, separation orders, etc.) by reviewing personnel records data; and experience applying various military human resources personnel principles, concepts, legal requirements, and methodology to provide advisory services, prepare correspondence, reports and summaries and present briefings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resources Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Human Resources Technology UsageManages and Organizes InformationProblem Solving Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-6).
