About the Position: Serves as a Human Resources Assistant with the Directorate of Human Resources, Redstone Arsenal.
This is a developmental position, GS-04, GS-05, Full Performance grade level GS-06. Management may select at either grade level.
Duties
Perform personnel and administrative support for civilian and military personnel.
Serve as subject matter expert and point of contact for all matters relating to entitlements and the issuance of identification cards.
Input and retrieves data from the Real Time Automated Personnel Identification Data System (RAPIDS).
Perform a variety of tasks involving the issuance of Common Access Cards and Identification Cards.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This job requires the skill of a fully qualified typist.

GS-04
General Experience : One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, 1) Performing a variety of administrative support duties; 2) Answering customer inquiries; and 3) Preparing correspondence, and/or records management.
OR
Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages
GS-05
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Using a computer and software or systems to prepare a variety of administrative documents to input actions, update information, and prepare standard reports; AND 2) reviewing documents; assembling records/packets; maintaining records/packets. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
GS-06
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Processing military actions using automated military personnel data systems; and 2) Verifying information on military personnel forms for accuracy and generating documents for completion of military personnel actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05)
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted for the GS-06.

Advancement requirement to positions up to GS-5: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
Time in Grade Requirement GS-06: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
