Duties
Major Duties of the Position:
DUTY 1: Teaching. Teaches students in undergraduate Spanish language courses, including the associated duties of enforcing classroom standards, preparing course materials according to published course descriptions, and providing extra instruction outside of normal class hours for students who require it. Provides well-organized instruction to facilitate, assess, and continuously improve cadet learning. Counsels and evaluates assigned students, providing student assessment and motivation. DUTY 2: Research: Scholarly activities and professional accomplishments. Initiates and conducts a program of research in the field of specialization which contributes to the body of knowledge. Prepares manuscripts, papers, journals, reports, and/or presentations containing the findings of research or scholarly study which are suitable for publication or other distribution. Pursues professional development through membership in professional organizations. Participates in conferences, webinars, or other events as a discussant or session organizer. Engages in scholarly and professional activities in order to maintain academic currency in the area of specialization. DUTY 3: Service and Administration. Performs appropriate administrative functions, as required, to ensure the timely and effective offering of courses. Keeps abreast of current training methods to ensure the most innovative and effective methods are being used. Incorporates teaching concepts, mentoring methods, means of enhancing the students' learning processes, and educational strategies and techniques with fellow instructors. Participates in faculty governance by attending department and faculty meetings, and serves on departmental committees when requested. Provides advice and counsel to improve the quality of educational programs and participates in other USAFA activities and events.

- The salary shown is the minimum (Annual) amount to be paid and may be set higher commensurate with individual's qualifications and experience.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A doctoral degree in Spanish Language or Spanish Literature is required, or a related doctoral degree such as Second Language Acquisition or Foreign Language Education, with proficiency in the Spanish language and proven experience as a Spanish instructor at the university level.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Teaching experience that includes, but is not limited to, several years of formal classroom instruction including class and material development and preparation, course design, testing, tutoring and counseling.

FOREIGN EDUCATION:
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the educational requirements. However, you must show proof that the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying in the form of an "official" statement of U.S. equivalency from a Department of Education approved (non-federal) agency (i.e. AICE, NACES), who will complete a U.S. Standard of Education Conversion.
