You will serve as a Travel and Program Support Specialist in the Command Services Division NAVFAC HQ of NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING SYSTEMS COMMAND.

Duties

You will be responsible for the oversight and management of the government travel program, Defense Travel System (DTS), and Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) Program. You will conduct random audits of DTS travel authorizations and vouchers to ensure compliancy is within the DoD FMR, JTR, and other applicable regulations and policies related to travel and GTCC programs. You will serve as the primary APC for the Command's Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) Program. You will train personnel on defense travel system, travel card, mail/supply management, forms, records and information management.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • The incumbent must obtain, maintain and use a government travel card.
  • The incumbent must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license in order to travel to conference, training, or meeting sites in the local area that are not accessible by public transportation.
  • This position performs functions that are necessary to ensure the continued operations at all times.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

FOR THE GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reviewing and approving documentation for completeness and accuracy of information regarding travel eligibility and entitlements; 2) Conducting audits of DTS travel authorizations and vouchers to ensure compliance with the DoD FMR, JTR, and other applicable regulations and policies related to travel and GTCC programs; 3) Identifying and reporting problems/errors to the Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO) or the appropriate personnel for resolution; and 4) Providing advice, guidance, and training to travelers on travel regulations, DTS program requirements, and the Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) program. FOR THE GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting with reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy of information regarding travel eligibility and entitlements; 2) Providing information on Government purchase and travel card programs regulations, policies and procedures; 3) Assisting with preparation of PCS authorizations, to include entitlements, orders, and allowances; and 4) Utilizing electronic records management programs for controlled unclassified information, electronic records, and forms management.
