About the Position: The Safety and Occupational Health position will serve as manager of the Safety and Occupational Health Program for the 69th Air Defense Artillery Brigade with primary responsibility for planning, managing and administering the organizations safety program.
This is TERM NTE 2 Years position.
Duties
Establish and execute the Safety and Occupational Health Program to provide a comprehensive program for all assigned military and civilian personnel.
Ensure the Safety and Occupational Health Program meets Federal/State/DoD compliance with occupational safety and health laws and regulations both on and off the installation.
Formulate and implement safety and occupational health policies, procedures, and guidelines for the organization to ensure compliance with established standards.
Promote the Safety and Occupational Health Program and provide education and training to include tactical specific safety training.
Perform accident reporting, investigation and analysis; program evaluation, inspection and monitoring; hazard tracking and countermeasure application for standard and military tactical operations and complex military equipment or systems.
Develop risk mitigation goals, objectives, methods and techniques to control or eliminate high-risk safety hazards including ground and aviation related accidents or mishaps.
Requirements
- This is a Term position scheduled to last NTE 2 Years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position is designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather or other emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has been designated as Emergency-Essential.
- This position requires completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination with lifting up to 60 lbs. and an annual examination thereafter.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment Drug Test screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Vehicle Driver's license within 30 days of employment.
- This position requires that the incumbent be able to meet weapons qualification requirements.
- This position requires incumbent to wear a military Army Combat Uniform (ACU)/duty uniform when deployed, or in the field environment.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear protective clothing suitable for the work environment.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain standard army safety program certification along with required continuous education and training in a tactical field environment.
- This position requires a physical examination for deployment to include immunizations appropriate for overseas/deployment location(s).
- This position is subject to recall during recall/emergency situations.
- This position may require Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) Training annually and as necessary to meet expeditionary requirements.
- This position requires completion of CP-12 Level 1 and Explosives Safety Level 1 professional certificates within 12 months, or prior to deployment, as outlined in the 0018 series Master Training Plan. Continuous CP12 education/training required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing a safety and occupational health program, advising management on safety and occupational health policies, conducting accident investigations, and applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, or procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
