About the Position: Serves as a Range Operations Officer, independently to assist, in planning, coordinating, and monitoring range operations of the Ft Bliss Fire Desk, Range Scheduling, McGregor Range Complex, Dona Ana Range Complex and Oro Grande Range Complex the for Directorate of Plan, Training, Mobility and Security, Ft Bliss Texas
Duties
Develops, staffs, and revises Fort Bliss range regulations, Training Circulars, and SOPs to align with MACOM, US Army, and local regulations
Provides current range safety information regarding the safe conduct and utilization of ranges, training facilities and controlled airspace during the conduct of complex live fire activities of units during field exercises.
Develops range design modifications and submits for approval, adapting design to local terrain and needs.
Directly involved in the installation range safety program by coordinating with local agencies to ensure public awareness of hazardous explosive materials safety and the Installation's Encroachment Outreach Training Support Package
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 55 lbs.
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential".

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing technical guidance and establishing priorities for the operations of live fire ranges; managing the operations of various weapons systems, firing ranges and training areas; and advising on range safety and range use in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
