You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OFFICE AUTOMATION) in the OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of NAS PATUXENT RIVER SECURITY DETACHMENT.

Duties

You will use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Adobe Acrobat to prepare a variety of documents, correspondence, and reports in accordance with established guidelines. You will schedule conferences by reserving rooms, posting schedules on electronic calendars, and notifying points of contact to reschedule when a conflict of schedule occurs. You will maintain organizational and administrative standard operating procedures, directives, policies, and other guidelines to ensure compliance with an organization's mission. You will monitor and manage usage of the Defense Travel Systems (DTS) through various processing stages. You will establish communication with vendors to solicit pricing, shipping charges, other detailed information and charges or fees.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card to make official government purchases for goods and services.

Qualifications

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-6 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying knowledge of administrative rules, procedures and operations to perform administrative support functions, including customer service assistance, maintaining appointment calendar, travel coordination, file maintenance and related clerical work; 2) Using word processing and spreadsheet programs to prepare, format and proofread correspondence, forms, briefing, messages and/or reports; 3) Maintaining a document filing system procedure to archive documents; and 4) Coordinating with others in resolving questions and providing data to support the program.
