You will serve as an INFORMATION AND REFERRAL ASSISTANT (OA) in the FLEET AND FAMILY SUPPORT CENTER of NAS PATUXENT RIVER.

Duties

You will screen correspondence and statements prepared for signature for content, accuracy, compliance with policies, and completeness of response. You will monitor databases to update records or files (e.g., contents, disposition, purging of files). You will brief supervisor on background information on subject matters prior to schedule phone calls, visitors, or meetings. You will prepare and submit administrative reports, documentations, and updates to management and staff.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing assistance that is in direct support of programs, and administrative management functions; 2) Delivering information and referral services to clients; 3) Receiving telephone calls and greeting customers, screening visitors, and maintaining multiple calendars, files, and records; 4) Utilizing various office automation word processing, spreadsheets, data bases, and presentation software; and 5) Preparing reviewing, editing, updating, reformatting, or revising existing databases, spreadsheets, documents, written correspondence and reports; assessing and correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, as well as complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text.
