About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located with 7th Signal Command, 21st Signal Brigade, 302nd Signal Battalion, located at Fort Detrick, Maryland.

Duties

Serves as a General Supply Technician with responsibility for supply support, readiness and material management to subordinate units. Provides technical advice and instruction in the areas of supply management. Performs availability review and other inventory management controls to ensure stock is correct and meets program requirements. Provides and develops both written and oral communications to establish command policies and defend command positions to subordinate units and higher headquarters. Directly accesses SAARS, Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-A system), and other logistic systems to obtain data required for evaluation of on-going programs and the conduct of items, project, and category supply studies.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Must be available on an on-call basis to issue parts in an emergency situation.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by monitoring assets through all phases of the equipment/system life cycle, including updating catalog and stock number listings; performing inventory checks to ensure recorded stock is correct and meets mission requirements; and utilizing automated systems, for example, Global Combat Support System - Army (GCSS-A), to review and pull inventory data for reports. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience above in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualifications requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
