Duties

You will ensure a wide variety of recycling materials are identified, classified, segregated, processed, containerized, stored properly, safeguarded, and delivered and/or picked up properly. You will ensure recycling activities performed are done in compliance with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). You will help enhance the Base's recycling program by implementing resource recovery and reduction, recycling, and waste minimization. You will keep record of items received, delivered, or shipped out. You will perform investigations and site visits regularly, and provide technical assistance, guidance, and information to generating activities and units concerning what to turn in for recycling.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to POSSESS and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license. NOTE: failure to provide your driver's license with this application will automatically disqualify you.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a valid forklift operator certification within six months of entry on duty.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: preparing items for recycling by bailing, dismantling, packing, or palletizing; AND collecting recyclables in specialized recycling vehicles. Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
