This position is located in the Veterans Health Administration, Mid-Atlantic Heath Care network (VISN 6) Asheville VA Medical Center, under the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitative Service. The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitative Service (PM&RS) serves multiple different occupational series to include Physiatrists, Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Kinesiotherapy (KT), and Recreational Therapy/Creative Arts Therapy (RT/CAT). Open Asheville VAMC agency only.

Duties

The Program Support Assistant duties includes but are not limited to the following: Performs clerical, administrative and technical program support work for the service. Makes travel arrangements, prepares and submits travel documents for staff members. Performs timekeeping duties for the service. Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with customers, constructively and appropriately. Works both independently and as a member of a team. Types a variety of documents into final form, ensuring correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format and style. Utilizes a computer and applications to extract pertinent data and prepare a variety of reports. Utilizes a range of software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) to prepare correspondence. Plans, organizes, and establishes priorities while meeting time constraints. Maintains an automated system of program-specific data to track suspense dates on project milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments, compliance strategies, etc. Maintains an automated system of program-specific data to track suspense dates on project milestones, progress reports, funding accomplishments, compliance strategies, etc. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0800 am to 4:30 pm. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/05/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Preferred Experience: Experience working in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation? Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience include, but are not limited to: clerical and administrative procedures, various office skills; and carrying out day-today administrative support activities; Working in an administrative position which required preparing correspondence, reports and graphs utilizing a variety of computer program. Skill in the use of a variety of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and other software applications; Interacting with executive leadership in the VA and private sector, contractors, staff members as well as Veterans, their family members and/or legal representatives; Provide/submit requested information to ensure all due dates are met in a timely and satisfactory manner; Managing a fast-paced office to include, establishing priorities, set up, reschedule appointments; Use own initiative to follow-up on action items and time-sensitive issues with appropriate staff members; Timekeeping duties in VATAS. You may qualify based on your experience described below: You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: ClericalCommunicationsComputer SkillsManages and Organizes Information Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Physically able to move supplies to support the clinical staff and department. Supplies are brought to the clinic and will need to be sent to all the therapists (20 lbs).
