The position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Charles George VA Medical Center, Asheville, NC (CGVAMC) under the Emergency Medicine Service.

Within the current health care environment of the Veteran Health Administration (VHA), the broad focus is on three key elements: information-based decision making through data analysis; excellence in clinical practice and patient satisfaction, and efficient resources utilization and management.
The incumbent supports the development and implementation of management information systems (MIS) specific to the clinical information needs of Emergency Medicine Service. The information base will include patient demographics, provider productivity data, hospital statistical data, outpatient operational data, cost-based information, staffing data and more.
Timekeeping for all Emergency Medicine personnel is a large component of staffing data. This includes tracking and retaining appropriate documentation for use of leave and any training whether VA or non-VA funded. The data to support the management information system must reflect insight into the operational and patient care activities. The incumbent will respond to dynamic needs and data requests from program areas as determined by the AO of Emergency Medicine.
The incumbent will identify and provide data to the AO and/ or Chief to support analyses of current clinical operations and clinic practice patterns. These data will support the ongoing efforts of the AO and Emergency Medicine Leadership to proactively identify opportunities to maximize service efficiency.
The incumbent is responsible for assisting and supporting the AO of Emergency Medicine in creating, monitoring, and maintaining a service-level orientation program for incoming staff, with a focus on clinical documentation improvement and standardization using CPRS and all available tools. The program will include developing a mentoring/preceptor rotation and facilitating familiarization with specialty services to foster development of professional relationships.
The incumbent will monitor all workload capture systems assuring all visits, procedures, consultations, and other forms of workload is completed in the appropriate timeframes and advise the AO of Emergency Medicine and/or the Service Chief of any deficiencies, delinquencies, or opportunities for improvement.
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 7:30am- 4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/19/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: experience where you were responsible for providing administrative support; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; processing documents and reports; establishing, updating and maintaining office files and records; performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; answering telephones, referring visitors, and providing information. in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Physical Requirements: Work is sedentary, and no special physical demands are required. However, occasional walking, standing, or bending is required.
