About the Position: This position serves as Health Technician with the Fort Novosel Army Hearing Program with primary duties serving in the Lyster Army Health Clinic, Eye and Ear Clinic, under the guidance of the Hearing Program/Audiologist. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Tour of Duty: Monday - Friday 0730-1615.

Duties

Assists with briefing or advising unit Hearing Conservationmatterson requirements of the program. Performs health education briefings on prevention of noise-induced hearing loss for patient. Sets up required medical equipment daily. Receives patients reporting to the clinic for care. Fits personnel with hearing protection approved for patients. Fits personnel with hearing protection approved for patients.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series and are subject to required/missing immunizations.
• This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
• May be required to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• Audiology Technician must maintain DOEHRS-HC certification and be able to be trained to operate the DOEHRS-HC hearing testing system.
• Applicants may be required to be able to clear Prime Source Verification Requirements.
• This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 5% of the time away from your permanent duty station.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the Federal service which include counseling on how to wear and maintain hearing protection; assisting the doctor with audiological examinations or treatment of patients; maintaining medical equipment and supplies; and reviewing audiograms to make a determination for follow-on testing. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
