You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INTERDISCIPLINARY (ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER/PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/LIFE SCIENTIST) in the FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHEAST COMPLIANCE & QUALITY DEPT ENVIRONMENTAL DIV of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

You will analyze complex and unusual environmental science and engineering management problems and present technical research and findings, both in oral and written presentations You will communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and management officials (military and civilian) to persuade others to act or provide required support. You will supervise the work of a diverse, multi-skilled division involved in supporting the production efforts of a complex industrial facility engaged in the overhaul and repair of fixed and rotary wing aircraft, and components. You will be familiar with biological and physical sciences to be aware of ramifications of their findings and actions inherent in assigned environmental engineering projects, studies, and programs. You will integrate environmental regulations into production operation policy and practices for compliance.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Specialized experience. Involve using a variety of methods and partnering to solve complex environmental compliance program matters related to an industrial aerospace repair facility. Collaborate with industrial execution areas and support groups, maintain accountability to environmental regulations, policies and procedures in place. Proficient in the implementation of program management relative to 40 CFR and/or ISO 14001, NEPA, Hazardous Material Control and Management, Hazardous Waste Management, Pollution Prevention, EPCRA, Safe Drinking Water, CERCLA, Oil and Hazardous Substances Spill Preparedness & Response, Storage Tanks, Solid Waste, Recycling, and others that are implemented to manage in compliance with applicable regulations. Ability to partner internally within an organization as well as external with counterpart sites and organizations to improve environmental compliance program(s). Manage a variety of environmental program projects, prioritize, and assign work for completion. Understand opportunities for development and growth of others to advise, train, instruct, or provide assignments to improve environmental compliance.
