The position provides broad technical, administrative and clerical support to Surgical and Procedural Care Nursing Service at the Dayton VA Medical Center. The incumbent will interface with Nursing Services staff, customers, and stakeholders; develop and maintain records of budgeting and resource spending; review, analyze, and report on performance and compliance activities via data analysis.
This is a bargaining unit position.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Reviews correspondence, (electronic and paper), directives, publications and standards in order to stay updated and informed, to determine appropriate action, responsibility, or area of interest.
Reviews reports, actions, and correspondence prepared for signature for conformance with Medical Center policy and VA regulations.
Maintains calendar/schedule for Nursing Service Chiefs.
Arranges travel for Nursing Chiefs to include airline and hotel reservations.
Prepares agendas, notifies participants, prepares minutes and arranges other matters, as appropriate.
Independently tracks, enters, maintains policies, memorandums, agendas, minutes into automated information systems.
Works with Selecting Officials to schedule interviews and arranges meeting space.
Maintains all pre-employment forms and informational documents/handouts which includes information regarding the pre-employment process and steps, benefit information, and salary determination information, orientation scheduling, etc.
Provides assistance to the Nurse Recruiter, Nurse Manager and supervisors in personnel matters involving staffing, leave administration, and training issues.
Prepares personnel actions, tracks the status of various personnel actions from origination to conclusion in the areas relating to personnel management in order to ensure: that suspense dates are met, that employees are paid properly, that employees are at the proper step and within proper leave categories, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/04/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performing clerical and administrative functions, office operations and technology support for an organization; using office automation software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) to enter and retrieve data, and prepare documents; and typing correspondences.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary but may include some walking, standing, bending and carrying of light items such as paper and books.
