About the Position: This position is located with the United States Army Installation Management Command, United States Army Garrison, Directorate of Human Resources, Military Personnel Division, Personnel Processing Branch at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Duties

Supervise civilian and military personnel engaged in military personnel management functions. Plan and coordinate work operations and activities. Prepare correspondence, letters, and orders. Compile and analyze data to identify trends, deficiencies, and accomplishments. Perform complete reviews of records and other case documentation to ensure they are correct, complete, and adhere to military policy and regulation.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position may require occasional Temporary Duty (TDY). Work requires occasional travel, using military and/or commercial aircraft or vehicle.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Employee may be required to be on-call after duty hours.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Interpreting personnel regulations, policies and procedures to apply to personnel actions; 2) Performing administrative functions for personnel programs such as: military transitions, retirements, and/or separations; 3) Reviewing personnel records for accuracy as it pertains to transition and separation processing such as: medical separations and expiration term of service requests. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resources or Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ComplianceComputer LiteracyDecision SupportManaging Human Resources Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
