About the Position: This position is located at Army Health Clinic Carlisle Barracks, Directorate of Branch Clinics, in an office setting. Telework only on a situation basis and must be approved by the direct supervisor. The work schedule will be Monday through Friday, generally during the clinic hours of 0730-1630. If chosen, the applicant can expect to learn a great deal about the operation of a military medical treatment facility, and the TRICARE concept of health care delivery.
Duties
Retrieve and process patient records and patient referrals for specialty care.
Confirm accuracy and consistency of enrollee information within the Defense Enrollment and Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS).
Verify patient enrollment and eligibility for services and advise beneficiaries regarding the services available in the Military Medical Treatment Facility and how to access those services.
Perform duties in compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
Technical competence with multiple IT platforms.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with referral processes using automated systems; answering phone calls; and/or maintaining files and documentation using a filing system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts.)
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
