About the Position: Carlisle Barracks is an installation at the center of the Army and Department of Defense Senior Leadership educational programs. This historic post supports missions such as the U.S. Army War College, U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center, and the Installation Management Command.

Duties

Direct the implementation of policies and procedures from higher headquarters concerning office administrative management. Maintain subject matter expertise in preparing and managing correspondence in accordance with agency regulations. Receive and review responses to ensure the action office has handled and submitted in a timely manner. Responsible for coordinating the work of the office with the work of other offices and for recognizing and coordinating special needs. Establishes priorities using own discretion, sets up changes or refuses appointments, accepts or declines invitations to meetings, conferences, etc., Brief managment on purpose of meetings, important happenings or occasions and on background and current status of projects in which he is interested.

Specialized Experience: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves: 1) Maintaining calendars to schedule events such as, conferences and briefings; 2) Coordinating travel arrangements using an automated travel system such as, Defense Travel System (DTS); and 3) Utilizing automated software to review correspondence, reports, etc., for format, grammar, and punctuation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). See note below for in-service placements. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). Ref. 5 CFR 300.601- 5 CFR 300.606 for additional information. See note below for in-service placements. NOTE: One year of specialized experience at the second lower level (GS-07) may be creditable for in-service applicants. However, for outside applicants such as those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service, one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower level (GS-08) is required.
