This position is in the Special Events Program, Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A), Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and serves as a Supervisory Program Analyst. The primary purpose of this position is to supervise subordinates and provide objectively based risk assessment on high profile events, like political conventions and major sporting events, which requires real-time information sharing and extensive coordination with federal agencies to ensure public safety and security.

Duties

As a Supervisory Program Analyst, GS-0343-14, your typical work assignments may include: Assess program effectiveness or the improvement of complex program and management processes and systems encompassing difficult and diverse functions or issues that affect critical aspects of the DHS SEP. Serve as a subject matter expert on the SEP portfolio, providing advice and guidance in areas that require extensive knowledge of special events security best practices, incident command, resource coordination, information sharing and interpretation, and risk assessment for special events and related program processes and methods. Research, analyze, and provide expert technical advice and assistance on complex special event related issues, such as issues or problems which impact substantive, mission-oriented programs. Provide expert advice and guidance on the DHS SEP, processes, and related activities with national impact. The DHS SEP Coordinates Federal response activities for special events by facilitating the interagency Special Events Working Group (SEWG), overseeing the National Special Events Data Call, coordinating the selection and support of appointed Federal Coordination Teams, and providing special event situational awareness to DHS Senior Leaders, the SEWG, and the National Operations Center. The SEP staff engages in direct outreach to local, state, and federal event planners, executes the administrative oversight and the facilitation of all coordination activities within the SEWG. Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.

  • You must submit to a pre-employment drug test. This is a Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP) and the employee will be subject to random testing while employed with the Department.

  • You may be required to serve a one-year supervisory probationary period.

  • May require deploying to areas outside the National Capital Region in response to significant events.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent private/public sector experience. For this position, specialized experience is defined as: Providing advice and guidance in areas that require extensive knowledge of special event security operations and/or planning. Providing advice and guidance in information sharing for special events or other complex coordination environments. Researching, analyzing, and aiding on complex threats, attack trends and special event related issues that impact substantive, mission-oriented programs. NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Note: Current or former Federal employees MUST submit a copy of their SF-50 Form which shows competitive service appointment ("position occupied" block 34 on the SF-50 should show a "1"), tenure group (block 24 should show a 1 or 2), grade, and salary.
