The incumbent provides expertise and assistance to a Senior Project Manager for a segment of a sophisticated and technologically advanced national nuclear weapons, nonproliferation, or other project for the oversight of design and construction phases of major, multi-year capital asset acquisitions or improvement projects. Project activities are characterized by problems for which there are gaps in engineering and scientific precedents and involve implementation of recently developed technologies

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band level or GS grade level in the Federal Service, i.e., NN-2 or GS-12 equivalent. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Experience assisting in the direction and oversight of the establishment of project design criteria for each element various projects.
Examples of Qualified Experience that May Be Qualifying:
1. Works with Senior Federal Project Directors to ensure the approved design criteria are adhered to during the design, construction, and occupancy phases of the project.
2. Serves as the NNSA technical representative on special committees and boards that assess the need for and establish criteria for new project management or construction
Education
Basic Requirements: A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
