The Director, Central Federal Lands Highway Division is responsible for providing executive leadership and oversight in the development of national programs, business plans, and initiatives to improve transportation systems and infrastructure that provide access to and through federally owned lands in 31 States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the District of Columbia. The Director oversees a staff of over 275 employees managing a $300M annual road and bridge improvement program.

Duties

The Director, Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division provides executive leadership and operational accountability for the Federal Lands Transportation Program, the Federal Lands Access Program, and inter-agency support programs with activities and projects in a multi-State area. This includes providing leadership for planning, research, engineering, and construction supervision of projects on Federal lands for the Federal Lands Management Agencies and for projects in support of other Federal and State partners.

Qualifications

As a basic requirement for entry into the Senior Executive Service (SES), you must clearly articulate and describe within your five (5) page resume evidence of progressively responsible supervisory, managerial, or professional experience which involved management of a program or organization of significant scope and complexity.  Your resume must provide information regarding your professional experience and accomplishments that demonstrate your ability to perform the duties of this position and meet the mandatory Technical Qualification(s) and Managerial Executive Core Qualifications listed below. TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (TQs): Below are the descriptions of the mandatory technical qualifications for this position. Your five (5) page resume must provide information regarding your professional experience and accomplishments that demonstrate you meet these technical qualifications.  1. Demonstrated experience providing leadership in the development, evaluation, and implementation of surface transportation improvement programs and related innovative technologies (e.g. transportation planning management systems, design, acquisition, construction, and maintenance operations). 2. Demonstrated experience providing program management and project delivery leadership in field office operations involving Federal agencies, Tribal governments, State and local agencies, and other partnerships, in the implementation of surface transportation programs. EXECUTIVE CORE QUALIFICATIONS (ECQs): Below are descriptions of the mandatory ECQs that are required for all SES positions.
