You will serve as a Human Resources Assistant (Military) in the Military Personnel Office of the Executive Support Staff of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
Duties
You will serve as principal assistant to the active-duty military personnel responsible for serving all military personnel assigned to PHNSY and IMF.
You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Military Personnel Division.
You will provide solutions to complex problems affecting command manning issues and the careers of active-duty service members.
You will be responsible for identifying and interpreting the more complex rules, regulations, and policies to make recommendations for career or service matters.
You will process incoming and outgoing miliary personnel for PHNSY and IMF and serviced activities.
You will determine the validity of emergency leave requests, housing assignment, and travel entitlements.
You will coordinate military service record-related inquiries.
You will assist with inquires related to pay matters such as leave requests, tax information, housing, etc.
Requirements

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing Human Resources (HR) services for military personnel that includes in and out processing, pay transactions, and advising others on the various rules and regulations pertaining to military personnel actions (e.g., service record entries, leave requests, entitlements and pay benefits, etc.)

Education
In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
1 academic year of graduate education (or law school, as specified in qualification standards or individual occupational requirements) in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position.
