The incumbent serves as a technical advisor and expert for systems planning and development projects which require the testing of new technologies and coordination of long-range systems requirements plans in an assigned area of expertise. Performs a wide range of duties including technical support of SSA's programmatic applications software development in a multiple-platform environment.
Duties
Provides expertise in the development of planning disciplines, priorities, and analytical approaches for the design, development, testing and implementation of SSA’s programmatic systems.
Conducts studies and tests for the purpose of evaluating hardware and software to ensure that the most efficient procedures, systems, methods and resources are utilized.
Conducts evaluations of existing computer systems to determine cost, performance, adequacy and problems.
Ensures that the appropriate measures for quality, security and integrity of systems are applied.

Qualifications

To qualify for the 2210 IT Specialist series, applicants must demonstrate the following IT-related competencies:

In addition, to qualify for this GS-13 level position, applicants must possess and demonstrate 52 weeks of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-12 level in the Federal government that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such IT-related experience must include developing database applications using the Ab Initio development platform.
