About the Position: As a Senior Engineering Technician on contracts administered by the Dredging Section. The incumbent performs a wide range of assignments involving interpretation of reports and regulations and selection of guidelines and practices involving dredging or other marine construction activities. Through application of civil engineering techniques and practices, the technician plans and accomplishes projects requiring independent adaptation of a general fund of background data.
Duties
Review plans and Specs for upcoming projects and provides comments.
Perform Contract Administration involving Study contracts, plans, specifications, special directives, and other criteria and changes thereto pertaining to construction; interprets, and instructions, and renders decisions thereon to field personnel.
Review technical data and reports for input in Resident Management System (RMS) and prepares pay estimates as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) approval.
Assists in the management of the quality assurance program.
Responsible for inspecting work to ensure contractors are adhering to The Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Safety Regulations.
Requirements

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing contract administration by reviewing for accuracy and/or consistency of contracts, drawings, and specifications and advise on modifications needed; create reports to assist engineers in dredging or disposal area maintenance; utilizing automated software programs to provide technical support to engineers; coordinate with engineers to maintain construction schedule; provide welding training as necessary. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10)
