This position is located in Fort Pulaski National Monument, in the Facilities Management Division. This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of 10-years. Term positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 01/19/2024 whichever comes first. Duties

This position serves in the Facilities Management division at Fort Pulaski National Monument in Savannah, GA. The purpose of this position is to serve as support staff to the facilities management division, while working closely with the park's natural and cultural resources division. This employee will engage in the research, documentation, and planning assistance for resource-related park projects. Other relevant fields include historic preservation and historical architecture. Performs technical work assignments that consist of a number of different and unrelated processes. Analyzes the issues and project objectives and makes adjustments to standard procedures or operations based on situations and conditions encountered in the field or during the study. Recommends changes to practices and procedures for similar studies. Interprets plans and specifications. Prepares complete sets of shop drawings from layouts or sketches. Drawings include several cross-sectional and subassembly drawings; dimensions, tolerances, fits, and fabrication techniques; standard parts identification; and information from the design originator, technical handbooks, manuals, and manufacturers' publications. Reviews drawings for conformance to established engineering standards, criteria, and project requirements.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-01/19/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take percentage of education. Then take the number of months of full time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
