About the Position: This position is located on Fort Belvoir, Virginia. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Duties

Serve as a Health System Specialist and subject matter expert in Healthcare Risk Manager (HRM) for the Defense Health Network (DHN) with expertise in all technical and functional issues related to HRM programs. Coordinates all HRM healthcare risk management activities regarding Quality Assurance directly pertaining to delivery of health care and works collaboratively and closely with the network Chief Medical Officer and HQ DHA HRM Program. Provides technical assistance and guidance to include on-site and virtual visits as necessary. Uses HRM programs and/or other Personal Computer (PC) based application programs to develop statistical and other reports for the DHA staff and other agencies as required. Advisor and primary point of contact for provider adverse action and adverse event management within the DHN. Review and coordinate Healthcare Risk Management cases at MTF level and those elevated to the DHN level to ensure accuracy and inclusiveness of documentation. Regularly brief DHN leadership on HRM case status within their network. Work closely in association with other programs within the DHN to support a comprehensive strategy. Track efficiency of the HRM process; recommends and implements procedural improvements.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes identifying and analyzing cases with malpractice claims; evaluating medical service delivery to identify process improvements and risk reduction; completing and analyzing adverse action files; ensuring compliance with policies and/or procedures across medical facilities; developing or advising on new directives; and advising senior leaders regarding healthcare risk management operations and/or optimization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.
