About the Position: Incumbent will serve as a Family Advocacy Program Specialist under the general supervision of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP)Manager, Army Community Service (ACS)at a large or medium garrison. Independently coordinates and directs the elements of the program, as determine by the FAP Manager.

Duties

Provides specialized Family Advocacy Program (FAP) knowledge and technical guidance to installation organizations in program development, implementation, management, and evaluation. Develops and publicize information about the seriousness of child abuse and spouse maltreatment, procedures for reporting all incidents of child or spouse maltreatment, and available services. Executes policy guidance and regulatory standards for a family advocacy program. Executes and modify the Family Advocacy Program training program designed to provide personnel information and guidance regarding program procedures to enhance their knowledge and skills in the prevention and intervention of family maltreatment. Utilizes reports and surveys to analyze program resources, personnel, and facility requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a Tier 1 background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • Employee must undergo a specific initial background checks, investigation and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records to obtain and maintain a suitable determination to occupy a position having regular contact with children.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Psychology, Psychiatry, Sociology, Counseling or Social Work. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing education in the areas of domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault, or other related social services; provide information and referral to clients for various social service programs; facilitate group discussions regarding applicable laws, policies, and regulations governing the prevention of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Psychology, Psychiatry, Sociology, Counseling or Social Work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education and TrainingInformation ManagementTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
