About the Position: This position is located at Fort Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville.

Duties

Conduct classroom instruction on all aspects of the LUH-72 Helicopter, to include training maneuvers, aircraft systems, and other subjects as assigned. Monitor standardization requirements; recommends changes in lesson plans, program of instructions, training methods and techniques. Instruct and evaluate rated and non-rated aviators in pilot and instructor pilot proficiency in the LUH-72 Helicopter. Operate the multi-engine, tandem seated LUH-72 Helicopter while instructing or evaluating the copilot/gunner's station.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires you possess the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Pilot Certificates, FAA Flight Instructor Certificate and/or appropriate military rating. MUST attach a copy front and back.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain an annual Army Class II Flight Physical.
  • This position is an obligated position to which former incumbent has statutory reemployment rights under 10 USC 1586.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Implementing methods of instruction for student pilot in the LUH-72 Helicopter. 2) Evaluating student pilots in all levels of development in areas such as flight maneuvers, aircraft systems and limitations, instruments flight procedures, and terrain flight. AND 3) Operating the LUH-72 Helicopter while instructing and evaluating the student. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). CERTIFICATIONS: This position requires you possess the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Pilot Certificates, FAA Flight Instructor Certificate and/or appropriate military rating. (NOTE: You MUST attach a copy front and back with your application). MINIMUM FLIGHT HOURS REQUIREMENT: Total Flight Hours- 1500 Pilot in Command - 250 Night Flying - 75 Flying Time in the Last 12 Months - 100 (may be waived) Instructor Hours - 500 Instrument Hours - 75 Actual Weather- 10 FLIGHT HOURS MUST BE DOCUMENTED ON THE RESUME IN THE ABOVE FORMAT. (Must attach a copy of official flight records such as DA-759, DA-759-1, DA Form 2408-12 or equivalent) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education and TrainingTeaching OthersTechnical Credibility Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
