About the Position: This position is located at Ft. Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville.

Duties

Instruct, evaluate, and examine rated pilots, instructor pilots, standardization instructor pilots, and test pilots in a variety of AH-64 flight, maintenance test flight, flight instruction techniques, methods, and procedures. Provide technical advice and expertise to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) in the operation and application of helicopters from a maintenance standpoint. Monitor contractor AH-64 flight operations for compliance with regulatory, procedural, and contractual requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance (Tier 3: Noncritical-Sensitive, Moderate Risk).
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain an Army Class II Flight physical IAW AR 40-501.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Instructing, evaluating, and examine rated pilots, instructor pilots, standardization instructor pilots, and test pilots in a variety of flight, maintenance test flight, flight instruction techniques, methods, and procedures for operating and test flying AH-64 rotary aircraft. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Certifications: This position requires you possess the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Pilot Certificates, FAA Flight Instructor Certificate and/or appropriate military rating. (MUST attach a copy front & back in order to be considered for this position). FAA Medical Certification: Position requires the incumbent to possess a current first or second-class medical certificate in accordance with FAA regulations at the time of appointment. (Upload a copy of your FAA Class first or second-class medical certificate) Minimum Flight Hours Requirement: Total Flight Hours- 1500 Pilot in Command - 250 Night Flying - 75 Flying Time in the Last 12 Months - 100 Instructor Hours - 500 Heavy Helicopter Hours - 500 (Up to 250 hours flying time acquired in heavy multi-engine airplanes may be substituted. This is only required for airframes which have a gross takeoff weight in excess of 12,500 pounds) Instrument Hours - 75 Actual Weather- 10 FLIGHT HOURS MUST BE DOCUMENTED ON THE RESUME IN THE ABOVE FORMAT.
