About the Position: Serves as a Quality Assurance Assistant for the procurement and surveillance inspections of operational rations and ration components in accordance with contractual documents, directives from Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP), Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Public Health Command - Atlantic (PHC-A) and unit policies. This position is located in Blue Ash, Ohio.
Duties
Inspection of Subassembly’s on a daily basis.
Preparation and submission of component samples to various laboratories.
Inspection of a set number of samples for correct contents and shelf life.
Inspects operational rations at receipt, in storage, operational ration assembly, and before shipment for food security, food safety and quality issues.
Assists in collecting, assembling and maintaining inspection data.
Maintains records of laboratory shipping and analysis
Maintains inspection records and files to proper support inspection programs.
Participates in performing subsistence procurement and surveillance inspections to assess food safety, security, and quality issues.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires incumbent to pass a pre-placement medical and annual medical surveillance exam in accordance with Occupational Health requirements.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires that the employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Trustworthiness Investigation (SF85P)
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires that the employee must be able to obtain and maintain a current valid state driver's license, and any installation, DOD and/or Federal license or certification required for vehicle operation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-06 grade in the Federal service which includes experience in procedures and techniques for quality assurance and applying statistical quality control plans and methods to operations pertaining to food quality, security, and safety; packaging methods for a vast variety of products; interpret and apply specifications, regulations and policy for inspections; use a variety of equipment/subsistence testing methods to test and evaluate subsistence items. Aapplicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
