About the Position: Serves as a Quality Assurance Assistant for the procurement and surveillance inspections of operational rations and ration components in accordance with contractual documents, directives from Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP), Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Public Health Command - Atlantic (PHC-A) and unit policies.
Duties
The inspection and Acceptance of Meals Ready to Eat (MRE) Final Lots for Government procurement.
Inspection of Subassembly?s on a daily basis.
Preparation and submission of component samples to various laboratories.
Inspection of a set number of samples for correct contents and shelf life.
Inspect of all pallets received that are destined for MRE use for mold and insects upon arrival, during storage, during assembly and at time of shipment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires incumbent to pass a pre-placement medical and annual medical surveillance exam in accordance with Occupational Health requirements.
- This position requires that the employee must be able to obtain and maintain a current valid state driver's license, and any installation, DOD and/or Federal license or certification required for vehicle operation.
- This position requires that the employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Trustworthiness Investigation (SF85P)

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. One year of specialized experience at the GS-06 grade in the Federal service which includes experience in procedures and techniques for quality assurance and applying statistical quality control plans and methods to operations pertaining to food quality, security, and safety; packaging methods for a vast variety of products; interpret and apply specifications, regulations and policy for inspections; use a variety of equipment /subsistence testing methods to test and evaluate subsistence items.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
